UA FPV Twin 1407 compatible with DJI O4

This file contains the STL files for my FPV Twin 1407 that is a blast to fly with a 3S battery. 


If built light, it could be sub 250 with a 550 3S battery.  It is designed for use with the DJI O4 Air Unit.  I build this as a fun little FPV plane - it would be a very tight build to integrate all but the most compact of flight controllers.  You can always build it as a straight RC plane - but just pay attention to the CG (as marked on the underside of the wing).

 

It's a really simple build, and a great flying plane. It's got a tremendous roll rate - and an unholy rate of climb - and a glide ratio similar to a Lear 24. Yaw can be as silly as you want with asymmetrical thrust, and she makes a great flight control test bed with dual independently controlled ailerons that can be rigged to function as flaperons or airbrakes (crow brakes). Couple it with some leading edge devices and experiment with  how they change flight characteristics.

 

I fly mine on a 3s, and get 5 minutes plus of flight time - more if you're conservative - less if you're deep in the throttle at all times.  She's a great yank and bank plane - loads of roll, and good pitch response with power - just fun to pretend you're flying close air support, chase other planes, or just dodge cactus.

Notes:

 

The circles on the underside of the leading edge are to document proven center of gravity location.

 

Trim setting at takeoff should be approximately 5mm nose up trim.  There's a small circle cut out on the rudders to indicate this setting.

 

This product is a zip archive of STL files.  No physical products - only the files.  Watch my video for build instructions. 

 

Other parts or components shown in the photos are to illustrate use.

 

Follow the videos to build the airframe.  No additional guidance as avionics, batteries and installed componenets are left to the builder.
